Requesting Promotional Items for 2015-16

It’s that time of year to request promotional items as a part of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Attached are a related memo and a related request form template.

2015-2016 Work Study Position Request

It is time again to begin requesting work-study positions for the 2015-16 aid year. We will be approving and allocating budgets within the next few months. The Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program encourages the part-time employment of undergraduate students who need the income to help pay for their cost of education, and encourages FWS recipients to participate in community service activities.

If your department is looking for part-time extra help, this will be a great opportunity to help our students. All current positions are reviewed at the end of the aid year and those positions that use less than 70% of their budgeted funds will be in jeopardy of having hours cut or position eliminated the following aid year. Any position left vacant for 45 calendar days will lose their allocated funding for that year.

Flipping the Script Writing Contest

I’m pleased to contact you about an upcoming event: the Flipping the Script: Giving Women and Minorities a Lead Role Writing Contest, hosted by Insatiable Ink (NWACC’s Creative Writing Club) and The Low Valley Review.

This writing contest is meant to promote the Bentonville Film Festival as much as it is to encourage the reading and writing of stories, essays, and poems. The contest opened on March 9, and is open to the NorthWest Arkansas community and Arkansas community at large.

Contest closes on Friday, April 24. Writers are invited to submit original works of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry focused (in some way) on women and minorities. Poets can submit up to 3 poems.

There is a 5,000 word limit for works of fiction and nonfiction. Winners will receive a framed awards certificate and be invited to read their work with writers published in the forthcoming issue of The Low Valley Review. The awards reading will be held during the Bentonville Film Festival. Time/date/location TBA
